IDGA's Maritime Surveillance Latin America is the foremost event for the Latin American maritime community, focusing on creating partnerships in Latin American maritime domain awareness, maritime security, and maritime surveillance.

Recent discoveries of offshore oil reserves in conjunction with new and emerging threats on the seas prove the need has never been greater for new and immediate advancements in maritime operations in the region. Consequently, Latin American nations are spending billions of dollars upgrading their equipment – including surveillance airplanes, submarines, littoral ships, and satellites in the hope of better protecting their natural resources, ports, and coast lines.

The Summit will focus on:

  • Interoperability and integration of underwater, surface, and aerial components for maritime security
  • Defense of naval and port facilities, and under water oil reserves
  • Short and medium-term strategies in Latin American naval procurement
  • Successful partnerships for enhanced Maritime Domain Awareness to combat smuggling and protect national coast lines
  • Detailed updates on requirements and challenges
  • Virtual Regional Maritime Traffic Center - Americas (VRMTC-A)
  • Collaborative public-private joint efforts to improve Latin America Domain Awareness
